You wake up late from a restless night’s sleep and remember you have a quiz today that you totally forgot to study for, so you hurry to school without breakfast and get there just in time . . . to greet the principal—who has a detention slip in his hand just for you. You bomb the quiz; and later on, you arrive home only to find a long list of chores your stepmom has for you, and you have to babysit your little brother. Could your day get any worse? Where is your comfort in time of need?
Throughout your life, you will have “trouble.” It can come in the form of guys, school, family arguments, or living out your Christian faith in a non-Christian world. Take heart. When you feel like you’ll fall apart if even one more bad thing happens, God is your ultimate comfort. He is there in all your times of trouble: serious or simple; he’s just waiting for you to call on him.
He can listen to you vent and help you untangle your worried brain. Then he waits to hear you rave about the outcome. Another cool thing about getting comfort from your Savior is that you can pass on the favor to your friends. God gives you enough comfort in troubled times to go around! So the next time you have a hard day, crawl up into God’s lap in prayer. Then give some of that comfort away to people who need it; they’re everywhere!
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the Father who is full of mercy and all comfort. He comforts us every time we have trouble, so when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NCV
