This is the ultimate pep talk. When life gets really tough, and when you feel like there’s no way you can stand up to the peer pressure, remember Jesus’ example. He was totally God. But he was also totally human—totally tempted, totally struggling, totally experiencing life just like we are. But he was PERFECT! He never made one bad decision, thought one hateful thought, or said one hurtful word. Even when wicked people—terrible, evil people—were doing bad things to him, he was righteous.
We’ll never be perfect on this side of heaven, but we can keep trying. Why? To show God we love him. The poet Carl Sandburg once wrote, “I’ll struggle and go one struggling to show you I love you.” This is what we do for Christ—in our struggle we show him our love.
Think about Jesus’ example. He held on while wicked people were doing evil things to him. So do not get tired and stop trying. — Hebrews 12:3 NCV
