No Ordinary Guy

No Ordinary Guy

Need proof that Jesus was no ordinary guy? That evidence presented itself loud and clear when he was crucified. First, the entire country became completely dark at noon during his crucifixion (Mark 15:33). It stayed black as night in the middle of the day for three hours. There has never been another time when the sky went from full sun to pitch black—not just stormy gray, but truly dark—for several hours in the middle of the day.

Then, at the moment Jesus died, the veil in the Temple tore from top to bottom. This veil had separated the rest of the Temple (and the people) from the Most Holy Place, where the Spirit of God dwelled at the Ark of the Agreement. Before then, only the high priest could go behind the veil to make sacrifices for sins—and even that was restricted to once a year. No one else could get that close to God on earth.

The moment Jesus fulfilled the prophecies and died for all sins, God ripped away the barrier between people and himself. Don’t miss the significance here: God—not human beings—tore that veil from the top to the bottom so that the people he created could get close to him again. To have direct access to the Creator of the universe, all you have to do is believe in Jesus and ask him to be in charge of your life. Jesus already took care of the rest.

“Don’t be afraid. You are looking for Jesus from Nazareth, who has been crucified. He has risen from the dead; he is not here. Look, here is the place they laid him.” Mark 16:6 NCV

Soul Surfer

Soul Surfer

Everybody loves a good story . . . especially when it involves a teenage girl making a huge difference in the lives around her! Do you remember the true story about competitive teen surfer, Bethany Hamilton? She lost her arm in a shark attack and courageously overcame all odds to become a surfing champion —AGAIN! Not only did her determination inspire millions but so did her faith.

Bethany’s story is coming to the big screen on April 8, 2011! “My family and I are honored to be the subject of such an amazing film,” says Bethany.

“My hope is that the story continues to inspire people around the world to overcome the challenges that face them.”

Now this is a message we love to hear! Mark the opening day for SOUL SURFER on your calendar. This would be the perfect movie for your friends and your family. It’s about a girl—just like you—who overcame obstacles to chase her dreams. Stay updated at www.soulsurferthemovie.com!

Don’t miss it! And don’t forget those surfboards. (On second thought, you may want to leave those at home.)

Passion

Passion

Jesus was talking to some people who had done great things for him. They had worked hard and persevered; but in all of that, they somehow lost their first love for him. You probably know people like that. They go to church all the time, wear Christian t-shirts, and scream “Jesus” really loud at concerts. But they’re missing a passion for him.

The Lord wants you to be known as a person who loves him. He’d rather have you be known as a gentle humble lover of God than as the most eloquent preacher who just sounds good. All kinds of things will tempt you to love them more than you love Jesus, but don’t give in. hold on tight to your love for him. When other people walk away from an encounter with you, they should know one thing—that you have a passionate, fervent, fiery love for God that will not quit.

If you’ve gotten caught up in doing a bunch of stuff in the name of the Lord, slam on the brakes. Run into his presence. Pray and worship him. Start listening to him and hearing his voice. Let him melt your heart again. Ask him to rekindle your fire for him. Your service is made great because your love for him is great. Keep your passion burning for him!

You have patience and have suffered troubles for my name and have not given up. But I have this against you: You have left the love you had in the beginning. Revelation 2:3-4
