Tomorrow is My Birthday – Anyone Want To Guess How Old I’ll Be?!

I just finished blow drying my hair and putting on my makeup. Just getting ready for dinner.
I stopped to get something to drink out of the fridge when I was struck by my two sponsor kids pictures on the door – Christine and Donald.
Their sweet faces made me pause.
I’m not sure that they can imagine debating over where they should eat for their birthdays.

30 hour Famine

I’m turning 29 tomorrow.
And the great thing about having your birthday at the half point of the year is that it gives you a moment to refresh all your new year’s resolutions that have gone bad.
And it’s not so much New Year’s resolutions that I want to refresh, so much as my heart.
We talked a lot at Revolve this year about doing small things to change the world, doing things together to make a big impact, and allowing God to change our hearts with what we are given right where we are at.

I don’t know where you guys are at or what you are up to, but it’s easy with summer just moments away and school ending and all that we have going on – to forget.
To forget that everyday a lot a lot a lot of kids die because they are so so so hungry.
To forget that every fifteen seconds, a child dies because of hunger related illness.
And I forget this you guys. I forget.
So that’s why I’m fasting for 30 hours this weekend.
Because there are things we can do and this is one of them.

I hope you will join me!
Maybe your youth group is getting together and having a big lock in.
Maybe they’re not.
That’s totally okay! You can still do this!
Just grab some friends, some orange juice and a big pile of movies and snuggle up for the night and CHANGE THE WORLD.
And then have sweet dreams because kids all over the world will get to see their next birthday because YOU stopped for just a second… to remember them. And love hungry.

Send me a message and let me know if you are participating in the famine – we can have a late night Twitter chat (@courtclarkcleve)! So fun!

Start Here

At Dream On, we worked with 30 Hour Famine and showed this AMAZING video during the weekend:

You might be asking the same question you see in the video: “Where do I start?” Start here! It’s so simple to get started and be a life changer for one person.

One of the most common questions people ask about the famine is “How do I raise the money?” 30 Hour Famine has given you all the tools you’ll need: http://www.30hourfamine.org/plan/before-the-famine/fundraising-tips. They’ve made every resource available. The only thing they need is YOU!

Here’s one of our favorite stories from a Revolve girl of how 30 Hour Famine impacted her:

“I did my first 30-Hour Famine with my youth group. I thought it would be hard and that I wouldn’t like it, but it was different than what I had imagined. I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it all 30 hours, but I did. I have never been so proud of myself. I raised $201, and my youth group together raised $2,300 and we are still collecting. We did so much, and it really opened my eyes to see what they went through. I never realized how lucky I am to be able to eat every day, and not have to worry much about whether I’ll be eating the next day. Learning about what is going on made me want to help out even more. I can tell you now, I’m so doing the famine next year. I recommend it to anyone and everyone.”

Do you Love Hungry?

In seven days, our friends at 30 Hour Famine begin one of their famine weekends. This year at Dream On, thousands of you, whether you’re a teen girl, a mom, or a youth pastor, stepped up and decided to participate in the famine. That was AMAZING! And now is the time to have the experience for yourself.

Here at The Revolve Tour, we want you to know we’re cheering you on every step of the way. If this is your first famine, be encouraged, it’s ours too! If you’re a famine veteran, big time kudos for making a difference in someone’s life year after year. And if you’ve never participated in the famine, it’s not too late to sign up by going here: http://www.30hourfamine.org/about.

We want to know all about your famine experience, so send us your videos, pictures, and experiences after you’re done with the famine. Remember to check back next week for our 30 Hour Famine week at RevolveTour.com.

Thank you for your selfless participating in the famine. We love you!

How Do You Smell?

How Do You Smell?

When you do what god wants instead of acting like all the people around you, Paul says that you are, figuratively speaking, a perfume. For some people that perfume smells wonderful. These people are inspired by your relationship with Jesus. If they haven’t met him, they see the peace you have, the way it really makes you happy to follow him, and they want what you have. If they do know Jesus, you example encourages them to keep getting closer to him.

Unfortunately, there are others who thing your life really stinks. The fact that you do things they wouldn’t do—take up for someone who everyone else is picking on, stay straight-faced when you hear a dirty joke, refuse to drink at a party—that bugs them a lot. They can make things pretty unpleasant for you, but they’re hurting themselves more than they hurt you and they don’t even realize it. By giving you a hard time, they’re pushing away Jesus—and knowing him is the whole reason they were born!

Our offering to God is this: We are the sweet smell of Christ among those who are being saved and among those who are being lost. To those who are lost, we are the smell of death that brings death, but to those who are being saved, we are the smell of life that brings life. 2 Corinthians 2:15-16 NCV

A Prayer for the Devastated

Here at The Revolve Tour, we are heartbroken over the devastation from the many storms across the southern U.S. So many have lost so much . . . so many want to know what they can do to help. While there are several ways to give, one simple, powerful thing we can do is pray. The following is from our friends at World Vision. Will you join us in prayer?

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come to You in the Name of Jesus asking that You would bring peace, comfort and provision to those impacted by the deadly storms in Missouri, Alabama, Oklahoma, North Carolina, and Mississippi. Lord, our hearts break as we hear reports and see pictures of the horrific damage and learn of the loss of so many precious lives.

We do not know how to pray or even ask on behalf of our Nation in this time of crisis, but we know that You are the God of the impossible and we ask that You would raise up an army of people who would be willing to do what it takes to be Your Hands extended in these places and to these Americans who stand in such dire need. Help them, Lord. Show us our part in this and give us the courage to take the action that we need to take to bring honor and glory to Your Name. In Jesus’ Name we pray. Amen.
