He Promises to Tell You what to Say

It will not really be you speaking but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you (Matt.10:20).

Have you ever been in a situation where you just didn’t know what to say? Maybe you were “smack-dab” in the middle of witnessing to someone, and suddenly you didn’t know what to do? This has happened to everybody. In this verse, Jesus was telling his followers that he was sending them out to be witnesses, and he assured them they should not be worried about what to say or how to say it. Why? Because the Holy Spirit was going to give them the words to say. One of the cool parts of being a Christian is that you don’t have to live on your own. Jesus is right their with you. He’s never going to leave you or stand you up. He’s always ready to speak to you and through you. So the next time you’re sharing Jesus with a friend, or someone at school is drilling you about Christianity, remember he is the One who speaks. The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say. Just calm down, and let him do it. He always will, because his Word never fails!

Courtney Clark Cleveland: Don’t Wait for Camp!

Courtney Clark Cleveland: Don't Wait for Camp!

I used to live for camp as a teen. LIVED FOR IT.
It pretty much is the best week of every summer in my memory.
I started my period at camp.
I conquered my fear of heights on the ropes course at camp.
I liked lots of boys at camp.
I learned to water ski at camp.
I learned how to make friends at camp.

But what left the biggest impression on me each summer was how I learned to engage with God.
There’s just something about the pine trees and no TV and the conversation that allows your heart to start opening up.
And each summer I would learn a little something more about whom God is and how much He loves me and that He’ll never leave me.

I lived for camp because I loved to be reminded of how real God was to me, but for some reason I seemed to believe that camp was the only place I could find God.
I couldn’t seem to figure out where He fit at school or with sports. I was just way too busy to try to find Him anyway. So I would wait for camp.

Do you have a place where you find God?

I don’t know if you feel the way I once felt – that there was only one place you could engage with Him or if you find it hard to engage with God on a daily basis.
If so, I want to encourage you with Psalm 23. I love it!
Read it. Put yourself in those verses.
He is always with us, you guys.
Don’t wait for camp. ;)

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd;
I have everything I need.
He lets me rest in green pastures.
He leads me to calm water.
He gives me new strength.
He leads me on paths that are right
for the good of his name.
Even if I walk through a very dark valley,
I will not be afraid,
because you are with me.
Your rod and your shepherd’s staff comfort me.

Set your Eyes
