Can’t Hide from His Love

“Nothing…will ever be able to seperate us from the love of God” (Rom. 8:38, 39). Feelings and truth rarely have very much in common. No matter how you feel, the truth is that you are completely loved by God and that nothing can ever separate you from his love. We sometimes compare God’s love to the love we know here on earth. The love we know here can be conditional, based on your performance as a friend, a student, or even a child. But God’s love has no conditions and nothing you could ever do can remove his constant devotion to you. There is nothing you can do to make God stop loving you. You can’t run away from his love. You can’t hide from his love. You can only decide to accept or reject it. You are loved perfectly and completely by the creator of everything. You have his word on that.
             See for yourself: Eph. 3:14-19

The Holy Bible

The Holy Bible

The Bible is a love letter, a written record, and a spiritual handbook about God and his people. It’s full of truth, incredible stories, and terrific advice. Lots of different people wrote it, but they were all inspired by the same God. If you read it from beginning to end, you’ll get this epic story of the human race, our separation from God, and the incredible thing Jesus did to restore that relationship.

Why not read it from cover to cover in a year? Sure, it takes a little commitment. But if you’ve never read the Bible regularly, brace yourself—this book gets in your blood. Want to win a battle with Deborah? Fight a giant with David? Sail the Mediterranean with Paul? There are multiple ways to read the Bible through. Check the New Testament reading plan in your Revolve BibleZine or do an online search for “Bible reading plans.” If a plan is too fast for you, take two years to finish it. Whatever you do, just keep reading,–you won’t be sorry!

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for showing people what is wrong in their lives, for correcting faults, and for teaching how to live right. Using the Scriptures, the person who serves God will be capable, having all that is needed to do every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NCV

Promises

Promises

Some people think that they have to have their lives totally together before they turn to God. They think they need to make themselves worthy of Jesus’ friendship. This is a lie that suits Satan’s purposes pretty well. The problem is that nobody will ever be worthy of what God is offering him or her. That’s a part of God’s truth that’s hard to swallow. And if Satan can keep people believing that they have to somehow earn God’s favor—that it’s even possible—he can keep them from taking the first step toward God’s kingdom.

The truth is that God doesn’t ask anyone to be worthy of him. If you come to him—without excuses, without trying to justify yourself, just putting your complete trust in him (like putting all of your weight in a chair)—then Jesus promises not to turn you away. He accepts you because he loves you, not because you’ve earned his friendship.

The Father gives me the people who are mine. Every one of them will come to me, and I will always accept them. John 6:37 NCV

Love One Another

Love One Another

The journey to understand God’s love is long and winding—it takes an entire lifetime. And many people will doubt the truth before they believe it. But if we come at them with judgment or threats, they’ll never embrace his grace. Instead, we must show mercy as people struggle to grasp God’s great gift of salvation.

If your friends aren’t sure that they’re ready to commit to a life of following Christ, be patient. Pray with them on your own. Let them know you’re willing to answer any questions they have about loving God. Encourage them to come to church or read the Bible but don’t force them into anything they’re not ready for yet. Love them patiently, the way you’d want to be loved if you were still trying to figure it all out.

Show mercy to some people who have doubts. Jude 22 NCV

Too Far Gone? Not!

Know any people who think they’re too far gone for Jesus? Maybe they think their sins are too big or their lives too ugly. They think God couldn’t possibly save them. They think God’s probably mad or that he’s given up on them by now or that he’s too holy to want them around.

Well, this passage is for the hopeless. God delights in saving the unlovable and the lost and the ones who think they could never be saved. To think that God couldn’t save you because you’re too far gone is to say, “I’m bigger than God. I can do something so evil that he can’t forgive me. I have more power than God.” The truth is that everyone is hopelessly lost without him and every sin is repulsive to him. But Jesus died for everybody—no exceptions. Anyone who calls out to him will be saved.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and if you believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you will be saved. We believe with our hearts, and so we are made right with God. And we declare with our mouths that we believe, and so we are saved. As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be disappointed.”That Scripture says “anyone” because there is no difference between those who are Jews and those who are not. The same Lord is the Lord of all and gives many blessings to all who trust in him, as the Scripture says, “Anyone who calls on the Lord will be saved.” Romans 10:9-13 NCV

Relationships Are Supposed To Be Good

If God designed our relationships and they are supposed to reflect him, help us, and help us to love one another and understand God more, then they should be good. They should not be negative and frustrating the majority of the time. Relationships can be like glass; sometimes it can be better to leave them broken than try to hurt yourself putting it back together.

The truth is this: Dating is actually pretty easy. Ask any married couple if it gets more complicated or less complicated when you go from dating to marriage. I promise you they will laugh and then answer you quickly. People shouldn’t be walking away from marriages, but dating is not marriage. Dating is supposed to be the time when you get to know someone and you just enjoy them. And if you really match up with each other you should be able to step back and say “This is a positive experience. It makes me more kind, loving, diverse, happy, closer to God, balanced, and generally a healthier person who is growing in life.” If this is not your experience, perhaps you shouldn’t be in that relationship.

Relationships are not designed so that you have to manage heart break. That is not what God wants for you. He wants us to thrive in them, not just deal with them. And when you think about dating keep this simple thought in mind. Dating should be positive. If it’s not then rethink how you are doing it or who you are doing it with.
