Austin Gutwein

Five years ago, Austin Gutwein was a regular kid who went to school and liked basketball—though you might say he lacked the natural talent for the game. Then he saw a video that showed children who had lost their parents to AIDS, and decided to do something to help. On World AIDS Day, 2004, Austin shot 2,057 free throws to represent the 2,057 kids who would be orphaned during his day at school. With friends and family sponsoring him, Austin raised almost $3,000 that day. Since then, thousands of people (including a lot of Revolve Tour girls) have joined Austin in a basketball shoot-a-thon called Hoops of Hope and raised over $1 million. Austin’s still a regular kid, but he’s a regular kid who’s making a difference. He and his family live in Arizona.
